Who's Involved?

Community involvement is one of the largest parts of making this idea an actual event. This whole idea is based around school pride and including the surrounding Champaign-Urbana area. The children are the future and including them and their own futures will promote community involvement. If more people from the county attend UIUC, there will be a better commitment to improving the area and ensuring a bright future for the residents. This concept is also based around teachers and their ability to provide students with their knowledge from their own experiences with higher education. Allowing teachers to become allies with their students can improve trust within the school system and motivate students to pursue learning more.

Our Proposal

We hope to plan a day around inviting the Champign Unit 4 School District to the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana Campus for a day. This is an opportunity for local schools to take a field trip and explore the life of a college student here at UIUC. This would include tours of the main classroom building, dorms, and other facilities. There would be organizations promoting their clubs/groups on the quad. This will give the students a chance to interact with current college students and create interest in attending UIUC. Overall, the main goal of this day is to instill the motivation in students to work hard and have the chance to attend a prestigious school, such as UIUC if they choose they do so in the future.
