Summary

Our idea is a proposal at the moment, but we feel that we are taking the right steps to implementing this event. It seems realistic that these schools would be cooperative in incorporating this day into their academic agenda. We are aware that there are a few elementary schools that are independently visiting UIUC, but if all schools could officially visit the campus, it would create a sense of unity and commitment to the community. Overall, our idea has the potential to impact both the education system and community throughout the Champaign-Urbana area, but just needs to be officially implement to have a lasting effect.

Challenges of Project

The hardest part of implementing our idea is the approach. It is difficult to create a process to put our idea into place because there are so many outside variables that need to align for it to happen. We are taking it slow and making sure all parties are on the same page. Learning from our experiences has helped us realize that it is important to have the knowledge on every aspect of your topic to have the ability to make a change. Problem solving is a crucial part to creating a well-informed plan and having a successful idea.

Relating to Other Group

We related our project to the project done by Brian, Nailea, and Marco about English as a Second Language (ESL). Their project is to help ESL students by providing outside resources that they can use to help improve English and learn in different ways. We relate with this project because we are both allocating resources and increasing awareness to help with education of students. This way they can use other resources besides the ones that have been given to them through school. Students will have more choice and variety and that’s a similar aspect of both of our projects even though our goals are slightly different.
